The calls and text messages to emergency contacts are sent automatically from our virtual switchboard and not from the parent's smartphone or from the Tata device.
This is for two main reasons:
the parent's smartphone could be turned off/out of battery/out of signal/out of credit and therefore unable to send text messages and emergency calls (and this would significantly reduce the security of the anti-abandonment device);
having text messages and emergency calls sent directly from the anti-abandonment device would involve a greater risk to the child's health.
